Ministry leaders
The ministry of
Gettysburg Bible Baptist Church functions with a capable team of
those who serve and teach. We have a very experienced, capable, and
godly pastor who spends much time in the Word. Each of the others
who work in the ministry, and some behind the scenes, are the
foundation of what GBBC is today. This includes Sunday School
teachers, musicians, ushers, children's ministry, nursery, and
anyone who helps in the ministry. All are an absolutely integral
part of the ministry. The ministry here works and functions, not by
any one person, but by each special member who contributes in some
way, whether it be small or large, each plays a vital part.
Pastor of Gettysburg Bible
Baptist Church
Pastor
Dave Mitchel received Christ as his Savior when he was about 9 years
old, and dedicated his life to God when he was about 20. Having
joined the Faith Baptist Church in Niceville, Florida he felt the
call to preach through the ministry of Pastor David Cosmo. Being in
the Air force at the time, he studied at a local fundamental Bible
Institute in the evenings for a few years. He was put in charge of
the visitation program at the church, and was involved in street
preaching, and local evangelism.
Upon being
honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1981, he felt led to work
in the ministry that his father was pastor of at the time –
Gettysburg Bible Baptist Church. The church called him as their
assistant pastor, and he preached Sunday evenings, as well as
nursing homes, jails, and the local rescue mission.
In 1989 through
1993, Pastor Dave studied through correspondence at Gulf Coast Bible
Institute and went on to receive his Graduate of Theology and
Bachelor of Biblical Studies degrees. Having served as assistant
pastor for eighteen years, and upon his father wishing to resign
from the pastorate, Dave was ordained in 1999. In April of 2000,
Pastor Dave felt God’s call, and was unanimously voted in, and
installed as the pastor of Gettysburg Bible Baptist Church. His wife
Patty also serves along with him in various roles.
